Jets' New Uniform Reveal Has Fans Fired Up
The New York Jets have seen their fans clamor for new uniforms. In April, owner Woody Johnson told the media the team will be announcing new uniforms. It's been a work in progress but things have finally become official.
The New York Jets revealed their new "Sack Exchange" era jerseys with three different versions. Legacy green, white, and black uniforms with a modern look of the iconic logo seem to be loved by the fanbase.
Jets News: New Uniforms are Revealed For the Jets
From 1979-1989, the Jets made the postseason six times and had a ferocious defensive front with Mark Gastineau, Joe Klecko, Marty Lyons, and Abdul Salaam wearing the "Sack Exchange" jerseys.
New York decided to bring back this look as they are trying to snap their 13-year playoff drought. The legacy jerseys have double-stripe shoulders and single-stripe pants.
Last season, the Jets debuted the all-white alternate in the Week 1 contest against the Buffalo Bills and wore them three total times.
Owner Woody Johnson said, "We work for the fans. They have consistently asked for us to return to our roots and we heard them. The new uniforms are explicitly designed to look and feel like the New York Jets while refreshing the club's iconic logo – viewed by fans as our most identifiable mark."
Jets president Hymie Elhai also said, "Elevating the New York Jets identity with a refreshed uniform embodies the unity, and a timeless sense of the Sack Exchange era, while empowering every player and generations of fans to stand out and stay true to our team's heritage."
In 2024, the fanbase will now see a star-studded roster don a new uniform as they look to punch a ticket to the playoffs.
The Jets believe they have a championship roster and have made some tweaks in the offseason. With Aaron Rodgers returning, they should make the playoffs and could be a dark horse for the Super Bowl.
