The New York Jets have been one of the most active teams in the league during free agency. They have made major additions with Tyron Smith, Mike Williams, and Morgan Moses but they also looked to keep some of their own players.

Earlier in the offseason, they re-signed Chuck Clark to a one-year, $2 million deal. They kept adding to the safety room and made another key re-signing. Per Mike Garafolo, the Jets are re-signing Ashtyn Davis.

Jets News: Ashtyn Davis Will Be Back with New York in 2024

Davis has been in New York for the past four years after being selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The California product is known for being an athletic playmaker on the backend who also has the versatility to line up in the slot for some plays.

Additionally, Davis brings juice to special teams and is a reliable force for that unit. Last season, the 27-year-old played a big role in the Jets defensive system.

He finished with 37 total tackles but logged career-highs in pass deflections (8) and interceptions (3). He posted a career-best 74.7 overall PFF grade.

The Jets now have a safety room that features Davis, Clark, and Tony Adams. Clark suffered a torn ACL in 2023 that forced him to miss the season but this trio has the skillset to be effective on the back end.

It certainly helps to have All-Pro Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed out on the boundaries with Michael Carter lining up in the slot.

The Jets believe they have a championship roster and have made some tweaks in the offseason. With Aaron Rodgers returning, they should make the playoffs and could be a dark horse for the Super Bowl.
