Giants Rookie Suffers Scary Injury in Tuesday's Practice
The biggest hope when teams go through preseason games and training camp is to stay healthy. The Giants have had their share of injury scares, namely with Malik Nabers who suffered a foot injury over the weekend, which has kept the playmaker out of practice.
However, the Giants may have lost one of their prized rookies as running back Tyrone Tracy was carted off the field during Tuesday's practice.
The beat reporters on the scene reported that Tracy went down attempting to field a punt and suffered a non-contact injury that looked gruesome.
There's no official news on the injury but Tracy's loss would be a massive blow to the Giants' offense. The Giants selected Tracy Jr. in the fifth round out of Purdue and had a ton of excitement about the pick due to his experience as a receiver and a running back. Against the Detroit Lions last week, Tracy looked explosive with 26 yards on five carries and averaging 5.2 yards per carry.
The Giants will likely turn to the free agent market as this running back room has been hampered by injuries. The Giants have also missed undrafted free agent signing Dante Turbo Miller who has been dealing with a hamstring injury.
Giants Will Need Running Back Additions
The Giants' running back room is now in a terrible place which is less than ideal after losing Saquon Barkley in free agency. Given the Giants' injury history with Daniel Jones at quarterback, the running back room will need to be fully loaded in case Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito needs to take over.
The best news for Joe Schoen and the Giants' front office is that several top-end free-agent running backs are still available for the team to pursue, while a trade for an experienced back is always possible.
