Giants Lock Down a Game-Changing Playmaker in Mel Kiper's Latest Mock Draft
One season after making the playoffs the New York Giants struggled during the 2023 season. They went 6-11 and finished third in the NFC East.
New York locked down the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and now has a chance to add a franchise cornerstone.
There may be some fans who will be slamming the table for New York to select a quarterback or even an offensive lineman due to the disaster that was on display upfront. Instead ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has the G-Men going in a different direction.
NFL Mock Draft: Kiper Has the Giants Taking LSU WR Malik Nabers
In Kiper's first mock draft on ESPN+ (subscription required), he has the Giants selecting LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick. New York fans would be elated with this selection as they could be adding an explosive playmaker to their receiver corps.
The Giants are lacking a clear-cut No. 1 weapon in the aerial attack and Nabers would fill that void. Nabers has outstanding speed and was one of the most productive players in college football during the 2023 season.
The Louisiana native caught 89 receptions for 1,569 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. Additionally, he reeled in 17 catches of 30 yards or longer.
The Giants haven't had a receiver log more than 1,000 receiving yards since Odell Beckham Jr. completed that feat in 2018 (1,052).
Darius Slayton was the Giants leading receiver in 2023 with 50 receptions for 770 receiving yards and four touchdowns. The potential addition of Nabers would provide New York with a game-changing playmaker.
