Giants Add Another RB, But Experience Remains a Concern
The New York Giants have signed another running back in UFL star Jacob Saylors. This season, Saylors finished second in the UFL in rushing yards with 460 yards on 94 attempts and eight total touchdowns. After going undrafted, Saylors has spent time with the Bengals and the Falcons but is yet to appear in an NFL game.
The Giants now have six running backs on the roster heading into camp, though there has to be a massive concern with the lack of NFL experience in the room. Devin Singletary will be the starter and is no stranger to the NFL, but outside of him it's lacking.
The team will have two true rookies in the running back room with fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy Jr. and free agent Dante Miller, who hasn't played football since the first half of 2022. Saylors will also be a rookie when he takes the field as he's yet to be active for an NFL game.
The running back with the most experience outside of Devin Singletary is second year player Eric Gray, who has just 17 carries in the NFL. The only other running back in the room with NFL experience is Jashaun Corbin, who has just one NFL carry.
What's the solution for the New York Giants?
Heading into the start of training camp, the New York Giants should definitely look at signing a running back with NFL experience. The Giants have seen running back injuries derail the offense and with no known commodities in the back field, the team can't go into the NFL with such an inexperienced group.
There are still solid options out there for the Giants with Kareem Hunt, Cam Akers, Jerick McKinnon, and Matt Breida among other free agents.
