Giants 7-Round Mock Draft Gives Team a Full Offensive Overhaul
70th Overall Pick - Ricky Pearsall - Wide Receiver
The Giants still desperately need to add talent to the wide receiver room despite re-signing Isaiah Hodgins and adding Isaiah McKenzie. The receiver who's done the most in the pre-draft process to improve his draft stock is Florida receiver Ricky Pearsall. The receiver is coming off of his fifth season of college football after starting his career at Arizona State.
Pearsall had his best season in 2023 with 65 catches for 965 yards and four touchdowns despite inconsistent quarterback play. He's an incredible route runner creating tons of separation, while his body control is impressive leading to some ridiculous catches.
Adding Pearsall to this offense would give whoever plays quarterback a dangerous weapon. Pearsall is special in the middle of the field an area where the current Giants receivers don't stand out. He understands coverage well finding the soft spots in zone defenses while his route running makes him deadly against man coverage.
107th Overall Pick - Maason Smith - Defensive Tackle
The biggest hole in the Giants' front seven is at defensive tackle opposite Dexter Lawrence, as the teams used veteran free agents and late-round rookies to try and fill the hole. Here the Giants would land a player with first-round talent in LSU's Maason Smith. The tackle will be 21 until October and his raw talent alone is worth betting on.
At 6"5, 305, pounds Smith is a monster and showed it while playing on a loaded LSU defensive line. Smith's true freshman season was his best with four sacks and 19 tackles. He'd miss his second season with injury before posting 27 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2023.
While Smith could serve a massive role in year one, this is a long-term pick as he could grow into a dominant rusher on the interior. If the Giants can find a cheap option on the inside, it'll help considering they are already paying Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Bobby Okereke massive salaries in the front seven.
