Similarly to my last mock, the Giants should pursue a running back to replace Saquon Barkley and one of the best prospects to come out of Day 3 is Washington’s Dillon Johnson. Adding Johnson would give the Giants a dual-threat rusher to partner with Devin Singletary, who figures to get the main chunk of the production in a group that is otherwise barren of talent.

Johnson was the main bull in Washington’s backfield last season and helped carry them to the national championship game with his 233 carries for 1,195 yards (5.1 average) and 16 touchdowns. His best intangibles include peripheral vision, gap awareness and patience, balance through contact and elusiveness, many of which Barkley provided to the Giants offense for six seasons.

The key will be for New York to improve their offensive line if they want Johnson’s strength and elusiveness to perform at the highest level. He can also contribute to the receiving game in short to medium yardage situations to give the Giants an extra set of hands or a blocker for the quarterback.
