72nd Overall Pick: Cole Bishop - Utah

The Jets have a hole at safety after losing Jordan Whitehead in free agency as he returned to Tampa Bay. The team brought back Ashtyn Davis, however he hasn't lived up to the promise he had when drafted and the Jets could use a long term option.

The Jets land who may be the best safety in the draft class here taking Utah's Cole Bishop. Bishop recorded 60 tackles, 3 sacks, a forced fumble, and two interceptions in 2023.

In Bishop, the Jets are landing one of the draft's most explosive playmakers who tested incredibly. Bishop is a dream player for Robert Saleh with experience playing in two high safety sets, single high sets, in the box, and in the slot. Bishop has great play recognition and plays with a physicality that'll make him a great fit as a rookie.

111th Overall Pick: Maason Smith - LSU

If not for suffering two injuries early on in his career, Maason Smith would be an early day-two pick at worst. Smith got injured early on in his freshman season and missed his entire Sophomore season with a torn ACL. In his Junior season, Smith recorded 27 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 2.5 sacks.

The idea of pairing a rusher of Maason Smith's caliber with Quinnen Williams should be a dream for the Jets. Smith is still incredibly young at 21 yet, he's explosive and powerful with NFL Caliber rush moves. At times Smith has been inconsistent, however he has all the skills and tools to put it all together at the NFL level.

134th Overall Pick: Jared Wiley - TCU

The Horned Frogs' 6"7 tight end Jared Wiley is one of the most intriguing options at the tight end position. For someone of Wiley's size, he has unreal speed and coordination excelling against zone coverage.

The Horned Frogs haven't fully used Wiley in their passing attack, meaning he has a chance to get even better as a receiver in the NFL after recording 47 catches for 520 yards and eight touchdowns. The size of Wiley is part of the reason why he's potentially the best blocking tight end in the NFL draft. He'll without a doubt be a great blocker in the NFL, his future just depends on if whether he can become a good enough receiver to stick around in the pros.

The Jets will be able to pair Wiley with Tyler Conklin to create an explosive tandem at the tight end position. For draft value, landing a tight end like Wiley in the middle of the draft as opposed to reaching toward the top of the draft is smart business for Joe Douglas.
