On Saturday, the New York Yankees held their 76th annual Old Timers' Day, welcoming back the franchise legends. This year, the Yankees honored the 2009 team that won the organization its 27th World Series title 15 years ago. Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Hideki Matsui, Alex Rodriguez, and CC Sabathia were some of the notable names in attendance.

For some current players who grew up rooting for the Yankees, like Anthony Volpe and Jazz Chisholm, this was an exciting event to be in the presence of the legends they grew up rooting for. For others, like Yankees captain Aaron Judge, it is an excuse to perform well in front of some of the franchise's best players in the last 20 years.

While Judge is on pace to see his number retired by the organization and join these legends in Monument Park and at Old Timers' Day in the future, he hopes to do what those did before him: bring a championship home to New York. While the Captain has yet to reach the World Series in his nine years in the Bronx, he's performing exceptionally well during the regular season to make the playoffs consistently and has built an impressive resume.

Many Yankees legends, including former Captain Jeter, are getting a front-row seat to Judge's greatness and believe No. 99 will help lead the team back to the World Series soon. When asked about Judge's performance this season, Jeter told the YES Network, "It's ridiculous," and questioned why opposing pitchers face him.

Derek Jeter Doesn't Think Pitchers Should Throw to Aaron Judge

Before Saturday's game, Judge was slashing 333/.464/.728 and has 151 hits, 119 RBIs, and 49 home runs, including five in his last six games. It feels like there is a new stat comparing Judge's numbers to those of legends like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig every day. No. 99 is also on pace to break the American League single-season home run record, which he set in 2022 with 62 home runs.

While Judge has been tremendous during the regular season, Jeter reminded everyone today that it doesn't matter what you do across 162 games. It boils down to the World Series. The former Captain told the media that it's championship or bust for the Yankees, who, with their talented roster, can bring home the team's 28th title this October.
