Breece Hall Sends Subtle Message to Jets About Usage
New York Jets running back Breece Hall was just like every other football fan on January 28. He was tuned into the conference championship games and watched four teams fight to make Super Bowl LVIII.
The NFC Championship Game featuring the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers specifically caught Hall's eye. Rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs was all over the field for Detroit and was used in many different ways by offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Hall went on social media to comment on Gibbs' usage.
Jets News: RB Breece Hall Wants More Usage
Hall insisted it was every running back's dream to be used the way Detroit utilized Gibbs. The Lions found creative ways to get the 21-year-old tailback involved. They consistently drew up easy completions for him in the passing game while also finding ways to get him in open space as a ball carrier.
Hall has showcased his ability to be one of the best running backs in the game. This past season, the Iowa State product led all running backs in receptions (76) and receiving yards (591). He also added 994 rushing yards with five touchdowns.
Despite these impressive numbers, it took a while before offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett got Hall fully involved in the passing attack.
Hackett even told reporters he didn't think Hall would be as productive in the aerial game. His mindset eventually changed in the Week 7 win over the Giants, when Hall took a check-down 50 yards for a score.
Going into 2024, it would be smart for Hackett and the Jets' offensive staff to find a multitude of ways to get Hall the football. He's one of the most dynamic players in the league and has the skill set to take over if given the right opportunities.
