Analyst Reveals Giants' Surprising View on Quarterback Situation
The New York Giants addressed most of their biggest needs in the 2024 NFL draft, adding Malik Nabers and a host of players that can take this team to the next level. Rumors and speculations swirled about adding a quarterback, but it seemed like the G-Men were content to stand with Daniel Jones.
However, this might not be the end of the conversation. According to Daniel Jeremiah (via Gregg Rosenthal), the Giants' favorite quarterback for the season may be someone else.
It felt like the Giants not drafting a quarterback meant the end of the discussion around Jones' starting job. But that's not the case after all, with the latest report indicating that the team may well view Drew Lock as their starter for 2024.
Jones has been under harsh criticism after the 2023 season didn't go as expected. Besides recording underwhelming performances, he suffered a neck injury before picking up an ACL that sidelined him for the rest of the season back in November.
The Giants will play in a renovated NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders making some interesting moves in the offseason while the perennial playoff candidate Cowboys are ready to make some noise too.
Even though the Giants have shown they're not ready to give up on Jones yet, this season will be crucial for his future. The New Yorkers know they have a future star with Nabers, and their current team can be a serious threat in the NFC in the mid term.
If Jones isn't on the same page, things could go wrong very fast. Jones needs to bounce back next season and show he's the guy for the job. Drew Lock put on a show last season when the Seahawks gave him a chance last season and perhaps an opportunity is all he needs to take over as the Giants' starting QB.
