Aaron Rodgers Goes Off on Jets' Culture With NSFW Call-Out
The New York Jets rolled into the 2023 season with high expectations. All of that evaporated when quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down in four snaps with a torn Achilles.
As the regular season wraps up, the Jets are on the outside looking in once again. They've now missed the playoffs for 13 straight years, the longest playoff drought across the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL.
Rodgers knows the 2024 season is high stakes as the pressure mounts on this club to make a serious run in the postseason. The four-time MVP made a staggering statement to reporters on Monday regarding the team's culture.
"Anything in this building that we're doing that has nothing to do with winning needs to be assessed," Rodgers said. He added there's "bull****" that needs to be cut out heading into next season.
In an ultra-competitive AFC, the Jets don't have much room for error. Especially being in a division with the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. They need to find the right guys to help turn this ship around, especially on the offensive side.
New York finished the year ranked 31st in total offense (268.6), 30th in passing offense (171.7), and 29th in scoring offense (15.8). This definitely won't cut going forward and Rodgers knows it.
General manager Joe Douglas and head coach Robert Saleh have their work cut out for them over the next couple of months. The roster needs serious improvement along the offensive line and the receiving corps in addition to weeding out the players who don't bring a winning attitude to New York.
The mandate in 2024 is simple: Make the playoffs and break the longest playoff drought in American sports.
