The New York Giants have to cut their roster down to 53 deserving players by Tuesday afternoon and here are nine names that could headline their list of difficult cuts.

TE Jack Stoll

When Daren Waller retired earlier in the offseason, the Giants' tight end position became arguably the most open competition on the roster. Jack Stoll has not taken advantage of that opportunity and the team doesn’t seem to have a role for him.

While Daniel Bellinger and rookie Theo Johnson aim to be the starters and passing pieces for the Giants offense, they could retain veteran Chris Manhertz to serve as the inline blocker and recently signed fullback/tight end Jakob Johnson to add a fullback element to the backfield. With only four guys expected to make the roster, that leaves Stoll as the odd man out after a short summer tryout.

Stoll made two catches for 15 yards as the right-side tight end in 22-personal against the Texans. He posted a 70.2 grade in pass blocking which is pretty good for a tight end, but the Giants view Manhertz as the more experienced soldier for that job. They were hoping he could bring some reviving to the equation like he did in Philadelphia but that was not the case on the other side of I-95.

In three NFL seasons, Stoll has 50 career games under his belt and collected 20 receptions for 183 yards but has yet to record a touchdown. Perhaps a team in need of depth or their own inline blocker will take a shot with him or else he might spend some time on the open market to start the season.
