DT Timmy Horne

Earlier in the week, the Giants had to waive injured defensive tackle Ryder Anderson, who was having a nice preseason and could have been in the running for a spot along the defensive front. That would have given Timmy Horne a chance to fight for the last spot at the position behind Dexter Lawrence, Rakeem Nuñez-Roches, and Elijah Chatman until an untimely injury befell him.

On Saturday night, Horne injured his Achilles just mere plays in the 10-6 loss to the New York Jets. With that sort of injury, Horne will be out for the foreseeable future, and that all but solidifies his chances of making the 53-man roster with Big Blue.

Prior to joining the Giants, Horne spent his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he appeared in 385 total snaps in a mix of run defense and pass rush. Yet, he struggled to present much of a pressure cooker in that system and it didn’t change much in 2023 with the Falcons and the Giants, who he joined during the regular season.

In the preseason, Horne saw significant reps against the Lions and Texans but posted a very weak 39.0 run defense grade on Pro Football Focus. He only made one pressure and one tackle and his career is likely on the shelf until he recovers from his injury.
