Scenario 2: Giants Get a Haul as Saints Move Up For a Derek Carr Successor

In this scenario, it's the Saints who decide to make a move for JJ McCarthy as their franchise quarterback. The Saints give up the 14th overall pick, the 45th overall pick, the 239th overall pick, and their 2025 second-round pick in exchange for the sixth overall Pick.

The Draft Value Chart has the Giants giving up 1600 points while the Saints trade away 1551 points in 2024 and anywhere from 270 to 580 points in 2025 depending where the Saints second round pick ends up.

The Giants would then use the fourteenth pick on Toledo Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell creating a dominant young cornerback tandem with Deonte Banks. They'd then get a receiver in Georgia's Ladd McConkey with the 45th pick. They'd gamble on talent with the 239th pick selecting former five-star recruit Demani Richardson who could develop into a long term option at safety.

This trade scenario gives the Giants the best of both worlds compared to some of the other trade options. The Giants still get to pick a player in the top half of the draft while acquiring another top-50 selection and the Saints second-round pick in 2025. The team could use the 2025 second-rounder to trade up for a quarterback in the 2025 class if they fall out of the top three as they did this season. The biggest downside to this is that the Giants fall out of selecting a top receiver making the team truly take the best player available.
