5. Cor'Dale Flott

Cor'Dale Flott had a really tough time in the slot for the Giants last season. For the second straight season he allowed a passer rating north of 90 (96.4 in 2022, 94.2 in 2023) when thrown at in coverage.

Despite often being targeted on intermediate throws (8.2-yard average target depth) he gave up big yards (12.9 yards per reception) on those 57 targets he faced.

His tackle number, recording 36 from the secondary, might make it look like he was at least stepping up nicely to defend the run on the outside. But he had a brutal 6 missed tackles, giving him a missed tackle rate of 14.3%.

So he couldn't cover, and he couldn't tackle. Both of those things are pretty important for a slot defender.

A 2022 third-round pick, Flott's best hope of keeping a starting job this season was for Martindale to stick around and believe in him. A personnel shakeup is not likely to be kind to the 22-year-old.
