6 Biggest Takeaways from Episode Two of Hard Knocks With the New York Giants
4- The Giants Seriously Considered Drafting a Quarterback
The New York Giants definitely considered trading up in the NFL Draft as shown in Hard Knocks. Joe Schoen was seen on the phone saying that he couldn't afford for the team to go 0-3 while Daniel Jones recovered from his torn ACL.
The show then showed us Joe Schoen going to visit the New England Patriots at the combine where Schoen asked their GM to consider the Giants if the Pats decided to trade down.
5- Brian Daboll Was in Love with Malik Nabers
After the quarterbacks, we saw the Giants interview the receivers and we heard Brain Daboll say he was in awe of Malik Nabers before he got into the room. Nabers did say in the room that he has an issue with not getting targets early on in the game.
Brandon Brown and Joe Schoen also mentioned that Daniel Jones liked Malik Nabers. The Giants interviewed Rome Odunze and Marvin Harrison Jr. as well, both of which impressed the Giants' top brass.
6- Joe Schoen Called Saquon Barkley to Tell Him to Test the Market
One of the most unique things we saw thus far is Joe Schoen calling Barkley to tell him he thought it was best that Saquon hit the open market. Schoen asked Saquon to give him his word that he would circle back and let the Giants know what offer he got. It was worth noting that he never gave Schoen a certain answer.
Next week, we'll potentially get to see if Saquon ever reached back out to the Giants.
