5 Yankees Who Won't Survive the Trade Deadline

We expect the Yankees to be in the market for pitching and middle infielders at this year's MLB trade deadline. The team must sacrifice talented prospects and veterans to address these positional needs. Here are five players in danger of being traded at the deadline.

2: RHP Will Warren

Whether it's with the Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds, or even the Los Angeles Angels for a player like Isaac Paredes, Jonathan India, or Luis Rengifo, we can expect Yankees No. 7 prospect right-handed pitcher Will Warren to be in trade talks at this year's deadline.

The Yankees are notorious for trading top pitching prospects at the deadline or during the offseason to acquire more prominent players. Justus Sheffield, James Kaprielian, JP Sears, Hayden Wesneski, and Drew Thorpe are a few names that may ring a bell for Yankees fans. Cashman has traded all of these top prospects over the years, and fortunately for New York, all have yet to meet expectations in the MLB. So, what's one more top pitching prospect?

The Yankees could trade Warren at this year's deadline, who is not having a great season in the minors. This year, with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders, the Yankees AAA affiliate, Warren has a 5-5 record with a 6.70 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP. It wouldn't be surprising if Warren's name were tossed around in trade discussions since the Yankees would have to sacrifice some arms in the minors to add depth at the deadline.

Other prospects that the Yanks could look to trade are No. 3 Chase Hampton or No. 10 Brock Selvidge. Fortunately, the Yankees have rebuilt their pitching in the minor leagues as they recently drafted 13 pitchers, so if they were to give up one of these players, it wouldn't hurt their farm system as much as in years past.
