3. Gary Brightwell

One of the last Dave Gettleman picks remaining on the roster, Gary Brightwell's time with the Giants is likely coming to an end. A running back out of Arizona, Brightwell has minimal production as a runner (164 yards) and receiver (92 yards) across three seasons in New York.

While Saquon Barkley's departure leaves a lot of touches available, it's unlikely Brigthwell will inherit any of those. Devin Singletary was signed during the offseason to be the team's lead back.

The Giants then used a fifth-round pick on Sunday to draft Purdue running back Tyrone Tracy Jr, who will likely compete with last year's fifth-rounder Eric Gray for the backup job.

Another sneaky signing the Giants made was rookie running back Dante Miller. The South Carolina product was unable to enter the 2024 NFL Draft because of an eligibility issue but almost certainly would have been picked. During his pro day, Miller ran a 4.27 40-yard dash and put up 28 reps on the bench press, both of which would have led runnning backs at the NFL Combine.

There's no room for Brightwell in the backfield, and to make matters worse, he also lost his spot on special teams. Isaiah McKenzie and Gunner Olszewski are the main return specialists now, so there's no role for Brightwell on this team anymore.
