5 Biggest Takeaways from the Finale of Hard Knocks With the New York Giants
This offseason has given the New York Giants fans an incredible look inside the Giants front office as HBO followed the team's every move this offseason for a new edition of Hard Knocks.
The first four episodes took us through the Giants' every move leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, while the finale took us into the war room on draft night. Here are the biggest takeaways from the season finale of Hard Knocks offseason with the New York Giants.
1. Giants Had Two Offers for the Sixth Overall Pick
All the talk around the NFL Draft was about how the Giants wanted to trade up for a quarterback. What we never saw leak out was any rumors about the Giants exploring the option of trading down.
Hard Knocks showed that New York got an offer from the crosstown rival Jets but that offer was never revealed. The Giants also got an offer from the Indianapolis Colts for the 15th overall pick, the 46th overall pick, and a 2025 2nd-round pick.
Joe Schoen didn't want to slide down that far, and rightfully so, as the Giants landed a potential game-breaker in Malik Nabers.
2. Giants Looked Heavily at Two Cornerbacks in Round Two
One of the Giants' biggest needs heading into the draft was cornerback as the team parted ways with Adoree Jackson this offseason. Heading into Day Two, the consensus in the room was that the team wanted either Alabama Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry or Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter.
The Giants saw the two targets go off the board before the Giants' selection at No. 47 overall. The Giants pivoted and selected safety Tyler Nubin who defensive coordinator Shane Bowen had as his top safety in the class.
