5 Best Prospects Still on the Board for the Giants on Day 2 of the NFL Draft
2. Cooper DeJean - Defensive Back - Iowa
The Iowa defensive back was viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in this year's draft heading into the process. Concerns about which position DeJean may play at the NFL level caused him to slide outside of the first round and into day two.
While many see DeJean's many positions played as a downside, the Giants can spin it into a positive. The Giants can use DeJean either at cornerback or at safety like they have with Isaiah Simmons at safety and Linebacker.
The versatility of DeJean can have a massive upside for a Giants defense that has several holes in the secondary. The Giants are in a year of re-tooling which will allow the team to find a true spot for DeJean long term.
1. Kool-Aid McKinstry - Cornerback - Alabama
Entering the 2023 College Football season, Kool-Aid McKinstry was the top cornerback in the class and it wasn't even debatable. McKinstry suffered from draft fatigue as teams had nearly two and a half years to pick apart McKinstry finding any little issue with his game.
McKinstry is one of if not the best cornerback in this draft class and the Giants would be thrilled to land him with the 47th overall pick. He can come in and start instantly across from Deonte Banks giving the Giants a dominant young cornerback duo. The Giants have a need at cornerback after allowing Adoree Jackson to hit free agency this off-season.
It'll be tough for the Giants to land McKinstry at 47th overall without a trade up as he may be one of the first players off the board here on day two. The Giants can easily jump up to the top of the second round as they have in the past for a player like Landon Collins.
