4. Maason Smith - Defensive Tackle - LSU

The Giants brought in Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick and they may look to bring a familiar face to New York with him. Nabers LSU teammate Maason Smith is one of the most intriguing prospects in this draft and could be a great fit in the Giants' defense.

At just 21 years old Maason Smith may have more upside than any player in the NFL Draft. Two unfortunate injuries kept Smith from reaching his full potential however when healthy he's been dominant.

The concern with Smith is he hasn't looked as explosive since returning from his torn ACL however, if he can return to his 2021 form he'll be the steal of the draft. Smith has impressive power as both a pass rusher and a run defender that would make him a perfect fit next to Dexter Lawrence.

3. Jer 'Zhan Newton - Defensive Tackle - Illinois

The Giants have built one of the most fearsome front sevens by acquiring Brian Burns in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. The Giants do however have one hole in the front seven and it's at defensive tackle next to Dexter Lawrence.

The Giants could turn to Illinois defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton who's been regarded as the top defensive tackle by many draft experts. Newton is an incredible run defender with great awareness and outstanding instincts.

The addition of Newton to the front seven would give the Giants a complete defensive line with no holes. He'll go off the board early in this second round so the Giants may need to come and trade up in the draft if they want to bring Newton to New York.
