4 Undrafted Free Agents Who Can Make the Jets 53-Man Roster
The New York Jets had one of the best draft classes landing several players that can make an impact from day one in the NFL. While the Jets had one of the most impressive draft classes, their undrafted free-agent class may rival it. The Jets landed several players who will have an opportunity to make the team's 53-man roster and potentially make an impact on the 2024 season.
4. Tre Jenkins - Safety - San Jose State
Robert Saleh has shown that he loves a player who can be a hybrid linebacker or safety in his defense. The Jets are getting just that in San Jose State safety Tre Jenkins who's played both over 59 games. In 2023, Jenkins recorded 67 tackles with a pair of interceptions.
While undersized, Jenkins has shown an ability to play at a high level throughout his career. In Jenkins, the Jets are getting a true chess piece on defense as he can play both positions while being a beneficial player in passing situations. If Jenkins makes the team, Robert Saleh can deploy him as a weapon in sub-packages making the defense even more dangerous.
3. Braiden McGregor - Edge Rusher - Michigan
While McGregor was seemingly the only Michigan Wolverine to go undrafted, McGregor was certainly sought after. It's being reported that the Jets had to outbid several teams for McGregor as he was one of the top edge rushers available after the draft.
In 2023, McGregor recorded 4.5 sacks as a rotational piece in a crowded defensive line room at Michigan. The Jets have a roster spot seemingly open at edge rusher after dealing John Franklin-Myers to the Broncos in a salary cap-saving move. All signs point towards McGregor making the 53-man roster. All he'll need to do is perform in training camp.
