Will Warren is one of the Yankees' top prospects, as a 2021 draft pick who was ranked No. 8 in the organization in 2023. Warren spent 2023 split between AA and AAA finishing the year with a 3.35 ERA over 25 starts and 129 innings.

The Yankees' rotation has major question marks with the injury histories of Nestor Cortes and Carlos Rodon as well as with Clarke Schmidt coming off of a career-high in games and innings pitched.

The Yankees also lost starters Luis Severino, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vasquez who provided the team with spot starts and extended stints in the rotation. If any of the starters suffer injuries or setbacks Will Warren will have a chance to start the season as the Yankees' fifth starter.

Unlike other Yankees top pitching prospects like Clayton Beeter and Chase Hampton, Warren has the AAA experience to transition faster to a MLB role. Without injuries, if Warren has good enough of a Spring Training he may make the team anyways in a long reliever role like the one Brito served.

If Warren doesn't make the camp out of Spring Training I'd expect to see him at some point in 2024.
