3. C.J. Mosley, LB

Don't worry Jets fans C.J. Mosley, also known as the Captain, will be with Gang Green in 2024. Mosley is the glue for this defense and is one of the unquestioned leaders on the team. The five-time Pro Bowl selection has a top-notch football IQ and finds a way to always be around the ball.

From 2021-2023, the Alabama product has secured 477 total tackles, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions. Since coming to New York, Mosley secured a Pro Bowl appearance and a second-team All-Pro nod in 2022.

Former general manager Mike Maccagnan gave Mosley a staggering five-year, $85 million contract prior to the 2019 season. He heads into the final year of the deal and the 31-year-old is set to have a $21.4 million cap hit in 2024, the highest on the team. Mosley will also have a $5.9 cap charge in 2025, regardless if he's on the roster or not.

New York doesn't have an easy out with this contract so their best bet is to restructure this deal. Extending Mosley's contract gives them more financial freedom for this ultra-important offseason and pushes money down the line. Finding a way to bring down that $21.4 million cap hit in 2024 could do wonders for New York.

Mosley is the quarterback of the defense. He gets everyone lined up and shouts the play calls to his teammates. There's no chance that Mosley will be gone in 2024. Especially after Quincy Williams and Mosley formed one of the best linebacker tandems in the NFL.
