2. Acquire Reed Garrett

Another interesting option for the Yankees could be Reed Garrett. This season he has performed extremely well as a reliever for the Mets. In 20 relief appearances, he has recored two saves with an ERA of 2.63 and 43 strikeouts.

What makes him a good target for the Yankees is his ability to rely on pitches that are off-speed. Now New York loves relief pitchers that rely on off-speed pitches rather than their fastballs. That is what makes the Yankees so dominant, their ability to dominate with their secondary pitches.

Garrett is that guy who could fit well in the back end of the Yankees bullpen. This season he has thrown 24 percent of both sweepers and cutters which are all secondary pitches of his pitch mix. Similar to Severino's price, the Mets might not ask the Yankees too much in a potential deal for Garrett.

3. Acquire Jorge López

Last by not least, the Yankees could consider acquiring Jorge López. If both plan A and B fall through, the Yankees can check in with the Mets to see if he's available.

He remains a solid reliever who could make a significant impact for the remainder of the season. In 27 appearances with the Mets this season, he has posted solid numbers, including a 3.12 ERA and 19 strikeouts.

Additionally, Lopez's experience in the AL East makes him an intriguing trade candidate. He previously spent four years with Baltimore, where he proved to be a reliable closer.
