2. Pitching Needs to Come Through Once Again

There were concerns about the pitching rotation after learning about the injury loss to their ace Gerrit Cole as the season approached. Surprisingly, we have already seen many guys step up unexpectedly. Names including Nestor Cortes, Carlos Rodon, Marcus Stroman and Clarke Schmidt all gave the Yankees some solid outings.

That trend is going to need to continue while the Yanks' ace remains on the shelf. It won't be easy, but they can pull it off as they showed last series against Houston. Arizona has a tough team, motivated to have a dominant season after last year's World Series loss to the Texas Rangers.

3. Oswaldo Cabrera Stays Hot

Ok, we did not see this one happen as the Yankees kicked off their 2024 season in Houston. As a matter of fact, Oswaldo Cabrera entered the 2024 season following a cold Spring Training in which he only managed to hit .213.

He quickly flipped the script in the first regular season series though. Cabrera played a big part of why the Yankees swept the Astros, hitting .438 with seven hits, six RBI, two home runs, and three runs. He is leading the team with home runs, extra-base hits, and RBI. It would be interesting to see what he does as the Yankees prepare to play another tough team that lies ahead of them.
