It's no secret that Daniel Jones is likely playing his final season with the Giants in 2024 as the team can get out of his contract with a lesser cap hit following this campaign. The Giants will either draft their successor this year or in 2025.

The Giants will need to set up their next quarterback better than they did with Daniel Jones. The offensive line will be much improved with the group locked up for at least the next three seasons.

When Daniel Jones entered the NFL, however, his weapons were Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate, and rookie Darius Slayton. Jones didn't have a true number one receiver and it likely stunted his development.

The Giants adding either Tee Higgins or Brandon Aiyuk would give the next quarterback a true number one receiver to work with. He'd also enter with pieces in Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt plus whoever the Giants add before that point.

Missing on a quarterback can set a team back years, as seen with the Patriots and Jets, meaning you need to get your rookie signal caller into the best position possible. Adding a star receiver would give the Giants the opportunity to put their new quarterback in the best spot to maximize his potential while maximizing the team's window while he's on a rookie contract.
