3 Reasons the Giants Should Trade for Brandon Aiyuk or Tee Higgins
As the offseason continues, two of the top receivers in the league are still looking for extensions in Tee Higgins and Brandon Aiyuk. It's becoming increasingly possible that the star receivers are moved in a trade and the Giants should be one of the first teams to pick up the phone if a trade becomes possible. Here's why:
3. The receiving room needs significant upgrades
As things currently sit there is plenty to be desired with the current state of the Giants' wide receiver room. The room currently consists of Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, Isaiah McKenzie, Gunner Olszewski, and Bryce Ford-Wheaton.
Slayton is the most proven of the group with four seasons of 700 or more yards, but he's not a true number one receiver. The Giants have a lot of hope that Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt will develop after spending significant capital on them in the draft, though we won't know until 2024 is over what their true potential is.
Hodgins and McKenzie are nice depth pieces for the Giants, while Olszewski and Ford-Wheaton make their impacts on special teams with little added offensively.
In all likelihood, the Giants need at least two receivers to get this offense to elite status. You'd love to have Slayton as a second or third option with players like Hyatt and Robinson rotating in.
If the Giants want to have an offense that is feared, they need to add twtrue playmakers at receiver to give the team a dynamic group. The addition of Higgins or Aiyuk would give the Giants the top-end target while the team could use the sixth pick on another high-caliber receiver.
