3 Key Takeaways From the Pivotal Rangers Win in Game 3 vs. Hurricanes
3. Panarin, Lafreniere, Trocheck Continue to Dominate Play
Throughout the regular season, there was no line better at scoring 5 on 5 than the Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, and Alexis Lafreniere line. Thus far this postseason, the trend continues as the trio continues to dominate play for the New York Rangers.
The game was tied at a goal a piece in the third period with both sides trading blows before Alexis Lafreniere scored on assists from Panarin and Trocheck. The play was set up by a Trocheck faceoff win followed by Trocheck absorbing a hit from Sebastian Aho, setting up Panarin to feed Lafreniere. Trocheck would let his former team hear it after his incredible play that put the Rangers up 2-1.
Then after Vincent Trocheck ended game two in overtime just two days ago, the Panarin, Trocheck, and Lafreniere line found themselves on the ice once again. Vincent Trocheck would make a great play against the wall before Artemi Panarin went between the legs with a deflection goal to win the game in overtime.
This line continues to power the Rangers offensively and as long as this trio continues its stellar play, the Rangers will have a chance in any series.
A Chance to Put the Canes Away on Saturday
The New York Rangers will now look to cap this series off on Saturday as they look to sweep the Hurricanes.
After a demoralizing loss for the Hurricanes, it's unclear how the team will come out for game four but if the Rangers can jump on the Hurricanes, they could quit early. The Rangers would look to their bottom six for some production as the powerplay and Panarin line continue to power them.
If the Rangers get another stellar effort out of Igor Shesterkin, there's no doubt this team will be moving onto the Eastern Conference Finals.
