The New York Rangers just picked up their biggest win of the year, knocking off the Carolina Hurricanes in Double Overtime thanks to a Vincent Trocheck game winner.

The Rangers got excellent goaltending out of Igor Shesterkin, who recorded 54 saves facing 57 shots on goal. The Rangers now head south to Carolina for Games 3 and 4 with a commanding lead in the series after holding serve at home in two games that could've gone either way.

Here are the three biggest takeaways after Game 2.

3. Jacob Trouba Must Play Better

While the Captain of the team doesn't always need to be the most talented player or the team's best goal scorer they should be a player that constantly makes a positive impact. Tonight however, Jacob Trouba did the opposite, finding himself in the penalty box three times. The Rangers were able to avoid disaster killing off all three penalties, but the team can't afford Trouba taking this many penalties as he's picked up five penalties in two games.

The Rangers have moved the captain to the third defensive pair because of his play, but they need for Trouba to make a positive impact this postseason. The Captain deserves some credit as he blocked nine shots and laid five hits helping the team defensively. Heading to Carolina up two games, the Rangers have to hope that Trouba finds his game as this team has Stanley Cup aspirations and will need him to be a key piece if they're going to do it.
