After a grueling first two games on the road, the New York Jets returned home to premiere on Thursday Night Football, demolishing the New England Patriots 24-3. It is the first time in eight years the Jets have won at home over the Patriots and they continue to impress in the short sample size of games this season.

The focal point of this Jet team is the defense and at times during the first two weeks of the season, many questioned the lack of performance from key players. Thursday night quickly changed that narrative as the Jets combined for seven total sacks and held talented RB Rhamondre Stevenson to just 23 rushing yards.

As expected, the Jets saw a glimpse of what Aaron Rodgers can provide to the offense over the course of the year with a 281-yard night. Touchdowns came from Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, and Allen Lazard, who are all determined to have successful years with Rodgers under center. However, the Jets 2024 fourth-rounder, Braelon Allen, is starting to play a more predominant role too and has greatly exceeded expectations.

These are the three Jets players who exceeded expectations in Thursday night's win:

Braelon Allen - RB

The Jets' newfound two-headed rushing attack was the difference maker on Thursday night and Braelon Allen looks to be a bigger piece in the offense than expected. For the first time this year, Allen reached double-digit carries for 55 yards. While he did not reach the end-zone, he continues to be a bruiser in the run game.

Will McDonald IV - DE

After the week one loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Jets' defensive front was under fire for the lack of pressure it generated. That conversation has taken a complete 180-degree turn as McDonald, for the second straight week, had a multi-sack game to bring his sack total to five on the season.

Tyler Conklin - TE

It is easy to lose sight of how productive Conklin can be this season given the many playmakers on the offensive side. On Thursday night, he led the receiving charge with five receptions for 93 yards after producing just 16 yards of offense the two weeks prior. Conklin is going to continue to be a key part of the offense when teams start adjusting to the Jets' main playmakers, giving him an opportunity to shine the rest of the season.
