3 Games on Giants Schedule That Will Lead to Culture Change
Week 4: Dallas Cowboys @ Metlife Stadium
If the Giants really want to set aside all of those losing seasons and start fresh in the sense of winning, they simply have to beat the Cowboys in their first matchup.
The Cowboys are 13-1 against the Giants in the last 14 matchups. The only win came against an Andy Dalton-led Cowboy team. In 2016, The Giants beat the Cowboys twice… and made the playoffs. First, winning a division game is huge on its own. I’m not sure the Giants have enough to win the division yet, but this could be a start.
However, if the Giants want to switch mentalities away from all those losing seasons, they need to get over the hump that is the Dallas Cowboys. The locker room after this game would be a sight to see. This is the total opposite of the Vikings game, in the sense that on paper it’s not “winnable”. Dak Prescott had an MVP-caliber season last year, with offensive weapons all around him.
The Giants have to take advantage of the poor RB core the Cowboys have. Stop the run and slow down the pass the best you can. I don’t think the running game will pose that much of an issue unless Zeke returns to old form, so the defense needs to be ready to stop Dak & CeeDee Lamb.
Last year, the opening game against the Cowboys broke my heart. As mentioned earlier, I think that derailed the entire season. After a great season, to come out like that probably shook the locker room and the team as much as it did the fans. The Giants need to make a statement and beat the team that has owned them to truly get back to their winning ways.
Again, this game is early in the season. To get a win against a probable playoff team and a rival, would be a huge success for the outlook of the season, and show that this isn’t the same old Giants.
