Indeed, it has been a great time to be a Mets fan at the moment. This team has surprised everyone in 2024 thus far. Just recently, they pulled off a shocking upset against the NL East division winner Philadelphia Phillies. Nobody saw this coming but the Mets have pulled it off.

They have defeated Philadelphia in just four games to advance to the NLCS. It has already been nine years since New York last appeared in the NLCS. This team right now looks poised and motivated as they look ahead to their next challenge.

Another important thing to note, it marks the first time in 20 years since New York last clinched a playoff series back at home. The last time they clinched in front of their home crowd was back in the 2000 NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals. Mike Hampton guided the team to their fourth pennant in franchise history. This was even a matchup where he threw a complete game. Unfortunately, they would go on to lose to the New York Yankees in the following round in just five games.

This current Mets team looks fun and scary to watch at the same time. Nobody wants to face this red-hot club that held the best record of baseball since the end of June. Part of the reason that makes them really good at the moment is how they're built. Their lineup is deep and their rotation is phenomenal. Their recent series just showed that they don't fear anybody.

You also have to give some players credit as well. Players like Francisco Lindor and Mark Vientos came up big in this series against Philadelphia. For example, in yesterday's clinching game, Lindor gave the Mets the late lead on a go-ahead grand slam to provide New York a 4-1 lead.

While Vientos on the other hand has been hitting like a beast. In his first postseason, he is hitting 12-for-28 with two doubles and two homers. His recent memorable playoff moment came on Sunday. He launched a game-tying two-run homer off closer Matt Strahm to even the game at four. New York would ultimately drop the game in extras to the Phillies. But still, it was an awesome moment for Vientos.

New York now awaits their challenger as they watch the two powerhouses between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers square off in the upcoming decisive Game 5 on Friday night.
