After a rough game two that the New York Yankees went onto lose 7-5, the Bronx Bombers will look to go back up in the series on Wednesday.

Charlie Morton vs. Masahiro Tanaka

After winning game one, the New York Yankees lost game two despite Giancarlo Stanton’s heroics including his two home runs and four total RBIs. Stanton now has five total home runs in the 2020 Postseason and three home runs in the ALDS against Tampa Bay.

Nonetheless, the Yankees and Rays are now tied at one game apiece after Deivi Garcia was pulled after only one inning and then replaced by J.A. Happ who went 2.2 innings allowing five hits and four earned runs.

Now, it will be Masahiro Tanaka who will take the mound in game three against Charlie Morton for the Rays. This season Tanaka went 3-3 in 10 starts with a 3.56 ERA in 48.0 innings pitched, with 44 strikeouts and a 1.167 WHIP, as Morton went 2-2 in nine starts with a 4.74 ERA in 38.0 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts and a 1.395 WHIP.

Tanaka had three total starts against the Rays in 2020, lasting a combined 15 innings, allowing 12 total hits, and seven earned runs with 14 strikeouts and one walk, adding up to a 1-1 record over those three starts.

Morton made two starts against the Yankees this season, only lasting four combined innings, as he gave up three hits, one earned run, and four walks with five strikeouts, and failed to record a decision in either game.

More from New York Yankees

The biggest question in game three is; will the Yankees bats show up? In game one the Yankees collected 15 hits and nine runs leading to a 9-3 win, but in game two they collected only five hits and five runs, ultimately losing the game 7-5.

That being said, the Yankees’ bats need to step it up in game three, or they’re going to have a major problem and could find themselves down 2-1 in the series.

Prediction: Yankees win 6-4

I am now two-for-two in my ALDS predictions, and in game three I believe the Yankees will win 6-4 thanks to an impressive outing from Masahiro Tanaka who is looking to bounce back after a less than impressive Wild Card Series start.

With that, the Yankees’ bats will be back and ultimately help the Bronx Bombers take a 2-1 series lead over the Rays, putting them in the driver’s seat for the rest of the series.
