New York Yankees: Tampa Bay Rays Series Preview/Predictions
Game Two
Tampa Bay Rays @ New York Yankees
Tyler Glasnow vs. Gerrit Cole
Wednesday, August 19th, 7:05 pm
Game two will pit one of the best pitchers in baseball (Gerrit Cole), against Tyler Glasnow who has had a rough start to his 2020 campaign.
Cole has been dominant, to say the least in his first season in the Bronx, winning four of his first five starts while holding an ERA of 2.76 in 29.1 innings pitched with a total of 34 strikeouts, 20 total hits, and only five walks.
Cole has been incredible, and anytime he takes the bump for the Yankees, it would be hard to pick against him. His last appearance against the Rays was his only start of the 2020 season where he failed to record a win.
Cole allowed three earned runs on six hits in only 4.2 innings pitched but struck out a total of 10 batters in a shortened seven-inning game that the Yankees went onto lose. In his second start of the season against Tampa, he will be looking for a different outcome.
As for the Rays, they will put Tyler Glasnow on the mound who has had an interesting start to his season, allowing a total of 12 earned runs on 17 hits while striking out 27 with 10 walks, leading to an 0-1 record with a 7.04 ERA.
Now, he will be tasked with taking the same mound as Gerrit Cole, a man who holds a 4-0 record with a 2.76 ERA and a guy who has failed to record a loss since May of 2019.
Prediction: Yankees win 5-2
In game two the Yankees will even the series winning 5-2 after a dominant performance by Gerrit Cole who will extend his record on the season to 5-0 after seven strong innings before turning the ball over to the bullpen.
On the other side, the Yankees will get on Tyler Glasnow early who will last only three innings after a rough outing to continue his unideal season. With that, his record on the season will move to 0-2 and his ERA will take a hit as well.
