Outfield

Aaron Hicks (29): Eric Anthony – Maybe Hicks can get a better comp after he comes back from Tommy John surgery this summer.

Brett Gardner (35): Coco Crisp – They are best described as a pair of steady, outfielders who could be counted on by their teams.

Aaron Judge (27): David Justice – It was quite disappointing to see the quality of players who compared to 27-year-old Aaron Judge. The top comps were all pretty close, and I went with Justice because of his time with the Yankees. Justice was considered quite the phenom when he first came up with Atlanta. By the time he was 27, Justice had 110 of his career 303 home runs; the Yankees young slugger currently has 111. Hopefully, Judge can avoid the injury pitfalls that befell his counterpart.

Giancarlo Stanton (29): Harmon Killebrew – Stanton’s comparisons were pleasantly surprising. His New York Yankees career has been a disappointment so far, but he put up some historic numbers before coming to the Bronx. Among Stanton’s top ten comparables at age 29 are five Hall of Famers. As much as I wanted to go with Reggie Jackson as the comp player, he was too far off. I had to take Harmon Killebrew. By age 29, Killebrew 297 home runs and a .904 OPS. Stanton is at 304 and .904 in the same categories.

Catcher

Gary Sanchez (26): Carlton Fisk – Sanchez is one of two players we had to break the 50 point rule for because his numbers are rare for a catcher. By the time Fisk was 26, he was the A.L. Rookie of the Year and had made three All-Star teams. Sanchez, for his part, was the ROY runner-up and has made two All-Star appearances. The superior defensive player is Fisk, by a mile, but Sanchez has the skills and opportunity to become something special with his bat.
