Carmelo Anthony’s former agent Leon Rose is the New York Knicks Team President. Their relationship paves the way for the future Hall-of-Famer to return to MSG. There are plenty of arguments both for and against the idea.

The Carmelo AnthonyNew York Knicks era was a confusing time in team history.

It was nice that the Knicks finally went back to the playoffs, as they did in Melo’s first three seasons. It was also frustrating that the team ownership and front office failed to build a team around Anthony.

There was plenty of depth, at times, in those first few years with Melo, but coach Mike D’Antoni stubbornly didn’t play his bench enough to use all the talent that they had. Then after those first three years, the front office gave Anthony nothing to work with.

Then came the failed experiment with Derrick Rose, and the failure to bring the “Banana Boat” squad to the Big Apple. Eventually, it was time for both sides to move on.

It’s been an utter disaster for both sides since. Before Steve Mills got the ax two months ago, New York Knicks management was unbelievably worse than it was in Melo’s final days at MSG. It’s clear that New York is still struggling to find its identity. Their new President, however, is Anthony’s former agent and has many more connections than a typical NBA executive.

Many Knicks fans are at least interested in bringing Melo back to MSG. A reunion doesn’t seem so far-fetched considering the future Hall of Famer’s relationship with Rose. There are also Knicks fans that aren’t into this idea at all. Both sides are valid.
