New York Jets: 2020 Schedule Release and Breakdown
Week 8 – New York Jets at Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday,11/1/20 @ 1:00 PM (CBS)
The New York Jets get the extraordinary pleasure of heading to Arrowhead Stadium this season to face the Super Bowl Champion, Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs are coming off an impressive Super Bowl performance in which they were down as much as 10 points in the 4th quarter. With the power of the AFC officially shifting from New England to Kansas City, the Chiefs appear to be top dogs for awhile.
Andy Reid finally got over the hump as before last season. He was one of the most successful coaches in NFL history without a Super Bowl. The Chiefs have been knocking on the door for a few years now, both with Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes under center. Back in 2018, had it not been for an needless offsides infraction on Dee Ford, the Chiefs could have been in their second consecutive Super Bowl.
This offseason, the Chiefs did very little as far as major moves are concerned. A Super Bowl champion team with a quarterback still on the last year of his contract, the Chiefs don’t have much to clean up.
They did lose some players, such as Kendall Fuller, Emmanuel Ogbah, Blake Bell, and Reggie Ragland. K.C.’s team’s biggest free-agent acquisitions are experimental pieces more than anything. The Chiefs signed former XFL quarterback Jordan Ta’amu and a former first-round pick, Taco Charlton.
This matchup with the New York Jets will be the team’s toughest challenge. The Jets will need some stellar play defensively to keep this Chiefs team from exploding. The drafting of Ashytn Davis and Bryce Hall may play a pivotal role in this one. This will also be a big test for Sam Darnold, going up against that loud crowd in Arrowhead.
