Week 12 – Miami Dolphins at New York Jets – Sunday, 11/29/20 1:00 PM (CBS)

In the first four weeks of the 2019 season, the Miami Dolphins looked like possibly the worst NFL team ever to take the field. Blown out by 49 and 43 points to start, followed by a 25 and 20 point loss, they were the laughing stock of the league. After trading away the team’s best player in Minkah Fitzpatrick, however, the team started to hit a stride.

Losers of their next three games, the Dolphins opened up in an 0-7 hole, but they started to become fun to watch. Ryan Fitzpatrick reinvigorated life into the offense, and new head coach Brian Flores really lit a spark. The team was playing hard for the coach and feeding off Fitzpatrick’s energy. It only translated to a 5-11 record, but, from where it started, Dolphins fans were pleased.

Some notable wins Miami picked up were their first one against the New York Jets on Week 9. In the return of Adam Gase to Miami, the Dolphins handled the Jets with a 26-18 victory. In Week 13, with the NFC East still up for grabs, the Dolphins upset the Philadelphia Eagles 37-31. Finally, in Week 17, the New England Patriots needed a win to secure a bye in the playoffs. At Foxborough, the Dolphins stole the victory at 27-24.

Riding that momentum, the Dolphins got busy this offseason, securing three first-round picks. With those picks, Miami selected quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, offensive tackle, Austin Jackson, and corner, Noah Igbinoghene.

The Dolphins are still another year or two away from their rebuild. The Fins showed last year that they could hang with some of the best teams. For the New York Jets, they learned last year that this team isn’t to be taken lightly. Just like every year, the Dolphins will give Gang Green a run for their money.
