Buffalo Bills: Final Grades for 2020 NFL Draft
By Ed Stein
Round 7, 25th pick, 239th overall
Dane Jackson, cornerback, University of Pittsburgh Panthers
If you like physical corners, you will like Dane Jackson. When possible, he gives his man very little space off the line. He can get beat deep and has been known to draw flags when he has to play catchup to a speedy receiver. Jackson also tens to get turned around by a good move from his opponent. Special teams are where he will likely make his mark.
Grade: C-. He is a seventh-round pick after all.
Conclusion and grade
Grade without Stefon Diggs: B-
It was hard for the Buffalo Bills to get an “A” grade without a number one draft pick. Beane and McDermott did a good job with the draft capital they had. Epenesa and Moss are keepers. Both will do well in Western New York. I didn’t think they needed to draft a quarterback or at least use a fifth-round pick on one when they could have gotten some extra help for the secondary.
With a power trio of Cole Beasley, John Brown, and Diggs, drafting two more receivers is hard to justify. Both Davis and Hodgins have potential, but both will need time to develop. Going with the best player available is a good strategy. It shouldn’t be the end-all criteria.
Grade with Stefon Diggs: A-

The main return to Minnesota for Diggs was the Buffalo Bills first-round pick this year. The Vikings used it to draft Diggs replacement, Justin Jefferson from LSU. Buffalo’s opportunity to contend for a division title and subsequently a conference championship is now.
It will take Jefferson a few seasons to reach Diggs’ current level. In the meantime, the Bills will be winning games with their new number one receiver. The only reason the grade isn’t an “A” overall is that with Diggs counted as the first-round pick, Beane drafted three receivers. There are other areas that needed attention to have such a WR-heavy draft.
