Round five

Big Blue traded out of this round and are very happy with the results so far.

Round six

With the fifth pick of the sixth round in the 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select Lavert Hill, cornerback, University of Michigan Wolverines.

If Lavert Hill were 6-0, 205-pounds, he would have been long gone by now. He isn’t, the Michigan cornerback measures up at 5-10, 190 pounds. That will significantly hinder him at the next level. Hill likes to play physical press coverage; he’ll have a big problem against bigger receivers in the NFL. Still, he could be useful in slot coverage or dime packages.

I learned a long time ago to never count out a player with a big heart. Hill is smart, he knows his limitations. On film, he shows great dedication and toughness. In the end, his size will be his undoing as an NFL cornerback. To make a mark as a pro, Hill will have to excel on special teams.

With the ninth pick of the sixth round in the 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select Khalil Davis, defensive tackle, University of Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Davis was selected in our no trade mock as well. Up to this point, only one “hog molly” has been drafted, so Giants fans know their general manager is itching to get another one.

This deep in the draft, Davis is one of the best defensive tackles available. In his last two seasons at Nebraska, the 6-2, 315-pound DT had 85 tackles,18.5 for loss, including 11 sacks in 23 games. Davis uses more of a speed rush inside rather than what a traditional power interior defensive lineman utilizes. He would make a nice alternative to Dexter Lawrence.
