Conclusion

As stated in the beginning, the general manager covered many topics. All of which points to better times ahead (unless you wanted Winters gone for more cap space).

Douglas understands what it takes to create a winning team. He is certainly knowledgeable, charismatic, and personable from what he shows at his press conferences. But let’s see if he can execute all the plans that he mentioned. It won’t be easy and there is only so much money that can be spent.

New York sports fans know that talk is cheap. It’s time to see talk transferred into action which further translates into success. Douglas is showing he is the right man for this job, His first offseason at the helm will speak volumes if he is a talker or a man of action.

Since the Jets have missed the postseason for the last nine seasons, there is pressure for Douglas and the front office to turn this team around. Does that mean fans are expecting an immediate turnaround? No. But they want to see some semblance of development and improvement.

The Jets haven’t been to the postseason since 2010. Since then all their division rivals, the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and even the Buffalo Bills make the playoffs. Fans are hungry to watch their beloved Gang Green earn a playoff spot and make some noise. Hopefully, Douglas is able to accomplish that mission.
