Believe it or not, the 2020 MLB Season is right around the corner and the New York Yankees will enter the season looking a bit different. The question is, will it help them raise a trophy in October?

The New York Yankees enter the 2020 season with a new pitching rotation, a new-look infield, and a different bullpen as well. The biggest addition of the offseason was undoubtedly Gerrit Cole who the Bronx Bombers signed for an out of the world, seven-year $324M but it might be worth it.

The Yankees enter 2020 as the favorite to win the World Series according to Bovada, sitting at +350 to win their 28th title. Here is who rounds out the top-10 in terms of favorites to win the 2020 World Series:

  1. New York Yankees +350
  2. Los Angeles Dodgers +365
  3. Houston Astros +650
  4. Atlanta Braves +1400
  5. Washington Nationals +1600
  6. Minnesota Twins +1800
  7. St. Louis Cardinals +1800
  8. Philadelphia Phillies +2000
  9. Tampa Bay Rays +2000
  10. New York Mets +2200

As you can see, it looks like there are three main contenders for the World Series, the Yankees, Dodgers, and Astros. But are either the Dodgers or Astros good enough to take down the Bronx Bombers?

The New York Yankees will start this season with probably their best roster since they won their last World Series in 2009. It appears the Yankees have a player who is close to the best, if not the best at every single position.

Here is what the Yankees starting MIGHT look like on Opening Day:

The only position competition the Bombers will have in spring training is at third base. With Miguel Andujar coming back after missing 99.9% of the 2019 season, and Gio Urshela having a breakout season in his absence, manager Aaron Boone has a tough decision to make.

Where it gets even more interesting is what happens when Aaron Hicks comes back from injury. Do you put Hicks back in center field, move Gardner to left, make Stanton the DH, then sit Urshela or Andujar? Or do you put Hicks in center field, put Stanton at DH, sit Voit and then move Andujar to first?

There are a plethora of other options the New York Yankees could implement, but these are probably the two that are most likely. Nonetheless, New York has a ton of options once they are fully healthy. Id it enough to help them win the World Series?
