Jacob deGrom

After two healthy dominant seasons, Jacob deGrom is finally getting the respect he deserves. Last year he was ranked fourth on the MLB best ten starting pitchers right now list. This time around, he comes in ranked first.

Since the start of the 2018 season, deGrom ranks first in the MLB in ERA 2.05, ERA+ 1.88, FIP 2.32, and OPS against .550, among all pitchers with a minimum of 250 innings pitched. Unfortunately, the New York Mets bullpen and starting lineup haven’t been so supportive of deGrom’s masterful starting performances on the mound.

The former Stetson University HAtters standout also led the National League with 255 strikeouts in addition to multiple “advanced” categories such as; adjusted pitching wins 4.2, adjusted pitching runs 40, base-out runs saved 44.14, base-out wins saved 4.9, situational wins saved 5.0, and pitching WAR 7.3, this past season.

Due to lack of run support and the bullpen constantly blowing leads, deGrom finished the 2019 season with a record of 11-8 and 13 no-decisions. Those totals came despite posting a 2.43 ERA and only leaving two base runners when exiting a game (none of which scored) across 32 starts.

Jacob deGrom is a two-time and reigning National Cy Young award winner, bringing home the award the past two seasons despite winning a measly 21 games over 64 starts.
