9. DePaul Blue Demons (1-4, 13-5)

After I called DePaul a bottom feeder last week, they’ve jumped up one spot in the rankings. It’s hard not to advance them following their huge upset over Butler on Saturday. Per CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, the Blue Demons win was their first win over a Top-5 opponent since 2006. This just might be the big victory Dave Leitao‘s squad needs to turn their season around.

8. Xavier Musketeers (1-4, 12-6)

As I mentioned earlier, it’s been extremely tough to win on the road. For an X-Men squad that was slated for a seat at the Big Dance, a bit too prematurely I may add, wins have been hard to come by in general. With seven of their last 12 conference games on the road, Travis Steele and his squad of talented players may be on the outside looking in. They must win both games against Georgetown and Creighton this week in order to stay relevant in the March Madness hunt.

7. Georgetown Hoyas (2-4, 12-7)

Patrick Ewing‘s squad was unable to gain any ground in the rankings this week. The Hoyas travel to Xavier on Tuesday for their only game of the week. While Georgetown is slowly gaining momentum in conference play, I’m still not sold on the seven-player rotation that’s being run out there. However, they’ve been paced by senior big man Omer Yurtseven and sophomore Mac McClung.
