The genius that is Dave Gettleman hits New York Giants fans with another head-scratcher. Joe Judge is the new Big Blue head coach.

Are we sure, like 100% positive, that Dave Gettleman isn’t just trolling New York Giants fans now? Is he adding insult to injury? The original Joe Judge was a third baseman for the old Philadelphia Athletics playing for Connie Mack. Joe Judge 2.0 is the Giants new head coach. Really?

The coaching search played out much like the 2019 draft for Big Blue fans. You kept hearing the name but telling yourself “nah, they aren’t taking Jones with their first pick.” This month it morphed into, “nah, they aren’t hiring Joe Judge.”  Followed by the news they did both things and not even knowing if your surprised, sad, or amused.

At any point, this season was anyone blown away by the receiving corps in New England? That is aside from Julian Edleman. N’Keal Harry was injured most of the season, Phillip Dorsett was garbage, and Mohammed Sanu seemed to actually regress as the season went on. In fact, running backs James White and Rex Burkhead were second and fourth respectively in receptions for the Pats.

Old TB12 never seemed particularly enamored with his receiver crew this year. While wonderboy Josh McDaniels was the architect of the mediocre offense, Judge’s position group was pretty terrible.

For that matter, his special teams unit was also not very good this season for the Patriots. Matthew Slater was a pro bowler long before Judge got there, and other than him the unit was pretty meh. They couldn’t find a solid returner all season and had some of their worst coverage units in the five years.
