Question 3: The Yankees most despised adversary.

The answer to this one is pretty clear to most that have followed the Bronx Bombers for more than a few years. There were however a few minority answers worth noting.

Third Place: New York Mets – 5.8 percent.

There will always be some heat between crosstown rivals. Mets fans are probably happy that Yankees fans acknowledge their team. This could heat up if the teams meet in the World Series again.

Second Place: Houston Astros – 7.7 percent.

Last year’s American League Championship Series left a bad taste in Bombers fan’s mouths. Payback would be sweet in 2020 for those who voted for Houston.

First Place: Boston Red Sox – 82.7 percent.

There are rivalries like Auburn-Alabama, Michigan-Ohio State, Barcelona-Real Madrid, Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers, and Toronto Maple Leafs-Montreal Canadiens. Then there is the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. For over a century these two rivals have been at each other’s throats. If there is one team to beat all season for Bombers fans it’s the Sox.

Not only is Boston the Yankees biggest rival, several of our respondents believe it is the best rivalry in all of team sports.

“Undeniably we possess the best and most heated rivalry in all of sports.“ – John Michael Simco

“Without question, the greatest team rivalry in sports history. Trumps any college rivalries by far.” – Robert Tilton

Also receiving votes: It doesn’t “matter,” and “Whoever we are playing.”
