What do our readers think about the local sports scene? EWB asked and you answered. Today we have part one of our New York Yankees fan poll.

Welcome to the next installment of our 2019 fan polls. Over the next week, we will hear from Nets, Knicks, Mets, Giants, Jets, Bills, Rangers and today’s block, New York Yankees fans. Those who support the Bronx Bombers are loyal to the core. They are incredibly passionate about their team and their poll answers prove it.

As with any family, there will be conflicting points of view on some issues. Responses to some questions are surprising while others were almost unanimous. Regardless, like all families, everyone unites behind their team.

There were so many great answers, I had to break this poll into two parts. Here is part one which includes World Series hopes, the manager, hated rivals, and top prospects..

Question 1: The Yankees will win the World Series in the next 1-3 years (Yes/No).

The hunt for number 28 is on and Yankees Nation is ready.

Yes – 96.2 percent.

I probably should have started off with a tougher question, because this one was almost unanimous with very few dissenters. New York Yankees fans are excited about the team’s immediate future as they should be. The team has an almost unstoppable batting order, depth, as shown by the way their backups produced with the starters missed so much time with injuries in 2019, and a great bullpen anchored by a hard-throwing closer.

The starting rotation, last season’s weak spot, was shored up by the signing of free-agent Gerrit Cole. Not only is he a staff ace, but getting him away from Houston, shifts the balance of power in the American League. It’s hard to believe with their nucleus that the Yankees don’t take home at least one World Series title in the next three years.
