New York Giants: Short list for the next head coach
With the New York Giants record currently sitting at 3-11 and Pat Shurmur being a horrible play caller, it’s only a matter of time before Big Blue moves on. But who would be the next head coach for the Giants?
New York Giants fans have been calling for Pat Shurmur’s head for weeks. Now that the Giants are 3-11, it is certainly a good time to give them what they want. Shurmur might finish the season with the G-Men, but there is absolutely no way he makes it through the offseason.
That means the Giants must look for a new head coach once again, but who could they go after?
There are plenty of names circulating on the rumor mill but I think most of Big Blue Nation can agree that the New York Giants defense is what needs work right now. With that in mind, a defensive-minded head coach would make the most sense. Because of this, expect the Giants to go after several defensive coordinators or coaches who don’t currently have a head coaching gig.
The New York Giants defense has been horrendous in 2019 and without Janoris Jenkins, it is even worse. In the game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the Giants defense had only two players that were in the NFL before 2015, Antoine Bethea and Alec Ogletree.
This means is the defense is very young. They are, needless to say, very inexperienced and it often shows at the worse possible time. The Giants need someone who can develop these players for the future. Here is a look at four potential fits to be the next head coach of the New York Giants.
